It’s a dark evening in a new city. No phone, no watch. You stumble across a stranger and ask the time. The figure engulfed in shadows dark as ink turns to you and says “the dawn is yet far though dusk’s grasp is already firm”. That’s a whole lot more cinematic than just “it’s 11pm”.

Inspired by the wonderful poets of New York City, I built a clock + community effort to narrate the time in a beautiful way.

Poets pinky swear they won’t use AI, and they submit their vision of a time of day decided by my ingenious algorithm (which definitely isn’t asking them to write about the times no one else has written about).

On our phones, watches, and computers we replace our drab and boring clocks with a live and random sampling of our community’s wonderful writings.
