When I see AI on a box, I scoff.
It’s not some magical thing that is desirable in itself.
As technologists, we disrespect the potential of this tech by slapping it on everything.
It’s our responsibility to curate and present technology at it’s best
As people who dedicate our lives to tech, while others take the far harder and more important roles of feeding, sheltering, defending, and organizing us.
How can we expect people to like AI if it’s coming at them as slop, threatening their jobs, polluting their air (damnit Elon why the gas turbines), and hallucinating them into trouble
Let’s make AI genuinely indispensable to someone other than us and let people beg us for it where they need it instead of burning our image by putting it where it don’t belong
What the hell is AI doing on a fridge, a microwave, in some shitty rebadge called “moto ai” clashing with Gemini when they could just ship one damn assistant
This doesn’t just mean LLMs
I frankly don’t want AI in Microsoft Paint. I don’t want to studio-ghibli-ify my pictures or make some cringe ass stickers from my face. I want to be empowered to skip my chores and be more free to do what I love, and AI certainly could do that.
Imagine the sentiment was “AI made my job 10x more fun” instead of “AI took my job”. It would be so if only we as technologists didn’t mess up the pitch so bad.
